Dental hygiene simply means the proper care of the teeth and gums. The main job of a dental hygienist is to examine the teeth and gums of patients, taking radiographs of teeth, and recording the findings. A dental hygienist also assists people in maintaining dental care by telling them about proper ways of brushing, flossing, etc. To become a dental hygienist, a minimum associate degree or a certification is required.
