An Associate in General Studies program is usually best for individuals who are not quite sure which subject they would like to major in. This program gives students an exposure to different subjects including English, Philosophy, U.S. Government and Politics, Chemistry, Geography, Sociology, Public Speaking, Creative Writing, Physics, etc. During the course, a student learns the skills of computer operations, public speaking, writing, better understanding of world culture, etc., that are quite helpful when a student plans to apply for a job.

University of Louisiana at Monroe Online Associate of General Studies ULMGOLD program is best for the students who want to pursue a non-traditional degree program for self satisfaction. This program gives freedom from regular day classes and to change college major during later years of academic career. Students can join college after they are sure of the subjects that are of interest now for them. The program consists of 63 hours. The Required General Studies courses consisting of 63 hours include University Seminar 1001 (1 hour); Core English Composition (6 hours); Core Humanities (9 hours); Core Mathematics (6 hours); Core Natural/Physical Sciences (6 hours); Core Social Science (6 hours); Core Fine Arts (3 hours); Communication Studies 1001, 1018 or 2001 (3 hours); Major Thematic Concentration Courses (15 hours); and Minor Thematic Concentration Courses (12 hours).

Career Options Available for Associate of General Studies
A student with Associate of General Studies degree can apply for a number of entry level positions in various organizations. He/ she can get jobs in various field including marketing, retailing, human resource, data processing, teaching, physical therapy, data administrators, medical record technology, dental hygiene, occupational therapist assisting, etc.

To complete the program, a student must have satisfactorily completed all freshman year requirements with a ‘C’ (2.0) average and also satisfy other requirements.
