Roots of University of Guelph go back to the year 1874 when Ontario School of agriculture was founded by the Ontario government. Later on in the year 1964, merger of Macdonald Institute, Ontario Agricultural College and the Ontario Veterinary College led to the establishment of University of Guelph. Spread over an area of more than 4 sq. km, the university has enrollment of both undergraduate and post-graduate totaling to about 21, 000 students and more than 3000 staff including faculty.
