School Library Media Certification Online - ISU

Indiana State University - Online Certificate in School Library Media Services program is designed for the people who wish to add licensure in school library media services. The program consists of 27 credit hours focusing on integrated library and media courses. The Introductory Course includes Foundations of Libraries and Librarianship, Selection of Library Materials, Literature for Young People, Topics in School and Public Libraries, and Production of Instructional Materials.

The Intermediate Course of 9 credit hours includes Introduction to Cataloging and Classification, Reference Sources and Services for Library Media, and School and Public Library Administration. A student needs to complete 9 credit hours from the introductory block before taking this course.

Practicum in Library Media course consists of 3 credit hours.


This program meets all the requirements of the Division of Professional Standards for the Indiana Rules 2002 license. It is recognized by National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

A student can complete this program online and does not need to visit the campus for classes. All in-state, out-of-state, and international students who meet the minimum requirements for this program as set forth by the university can apply for admission in this program.
