Indiana State University - Online Certificate in School Administration program consists of 39 credit hours. The Elective courses include (any one of) Research in Education, Foundations of Research and Foundations of Qualitative and Quantitative Research; (any one of) Philosophy of Education, The History of American Education and School and Society; and (any one of) Curriculum Fundamentals and the Elementary Curriculum.
Main courses include Foundations of Educational Leadership, Legal Aspects of Educational Administration, School and Community: Collaborating for Effective Schools, The School Principal: Leadership for Changing Schools, Leadership for Learning: Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment to Support Improved Student Performance, Principal Internship, Seminar in Effective Practices for Principals, and Development Through the Lifespan.
In addition, the candidate also needs to develop a portfolio with documentation of students' experiences during the internship. Students are trained with the help of different case studies, simulations, practitioners, class dialogues and discussion, lecture, research and participation. A year-long principal internship program and a professional development portfolio help in culminating the experience.
A student needs to visit the campus for on-campus components, three Saturday sessions per semester.
