It is very important to teach people about road safety measures and the proper ways of safe driving. Teachers and instructors of driver education can play an important role in educating people about safe driving practices. A number of universities are now providing online driving education certificate programs that integrate interactive learning tools with internet to provide driving education. The Driver Education Instructor License Program trains students to be good teachers of driver education for all age groups. A student after completing this certificate program can work as driver education teachers in public or private schools or as instructors in commercial driving schools.

Online Certificates in Driver Education - Indiana State University

Indiana State University - Online Certificate in Driver Education program offers two different tracks for the candidates: Public School Teachers Track and Commercial School Instructors Track. The first track is designed for the candidates who want to be driver education teachers in public or private schools. The course includes 9 credit hours and meets the standards for a Rules 2002 license which is recommended to the candidates who hold an instructional license and complete the Driver Education Program. The second track is for the candidates who want to get a Bureau of Motor Vehicles Instructor's license. Such candidates also must complete 9 credit hours and should also possess a valid driver's license. These candidates are also required to have completed 60 hours of undergraduate credit and should be associated with a recognized commercial school.

The courses for both the tracks include Driver Education Task Analysis, Developing Driver Skills and Driver Competencies, and Developing Classroom Knowledge and Program Management.

The courses of this program can be completed entirely online and include web-based conferencing and online courses. There are some orientation programs which can be attended on Saturdays.s
