Frederick Griggs in the early twentieth century foresaw the needs of growing demand for education among the working population and the people who could not pursue normal education. With a humble beginning from one room premise in the year 1909, foundation of Griggs University (GU) was laid. In the initial years it was called The Fireside Correspondence School, and then renamed to Home Study Institute and later Home Study International. Nowadays, managed by Seventh-day Adventist school system, it is known as Griggs University/Griggs International Academy. Three different divisions of the university are Home Study Elementary School, Home Study High School and Griggs University. GU has made education accessible to people from all walks of life and backgrounds and age. In 1991 the university started offering distance education to people from all over the world. Since then there is no looking back. As of now, more than 235,000 students have studied from GU.
