There is a good demand for skilled case managers in health care services. Lots of registered nurses, social workers, ancillary licensed healthcare workers are practicing case management in their respective fields. Demand is increasing for case managers in different fields in healthcare including nursing, physical therapy, gerontology, health care insurance, diabetic education, occupational therapy, respiratory care, etc. A number of universities now offer case management programs to the students. During these programs, students learn about basics of case management, case management practice and processes, managed healthcare and ambulatory case management systems. Breyer State University - Online Master in Case Management
Breyer State University - Online Master of Case Management program consists of 50 semester hours. The core courses include the Case Management Process (5 hrs), Quality and Case Management (5 hrs), Managed Care (5 hrs), Utilization Management (5 hrs), Reimbursement Systems (5 hrs), Ambulatory Case Management (5 hrs), Clinical Practicum (10 hrs) and Case Management Symposium (10 hrs).

During the clinical practicum course, students work with the instructor and receive education oriented experience in case management services.

This program is recognized by the American Academy of Case Management. A student can apply for the Fellowship status in the American Academy of Case Management after completing the courses: The Case Management Process, and Quality and Case Management and Managed Care.

A student needs to have a bachelors degree in nursing, social services, or a related health care field and one year experience in case management to get admission in this program.

A student gets 10 weeks’ time to complete an online course. The time limit can be extended on request and with permission of the instructor. All the courses are offered online and give students opportunity to complete the degree program through distance education without the need to attend regular classes.

The program allows students to transfer applicable college credits/ courses earned previously during their college programs to this program.

Career Options Available for a Master of Case Management
There is good demand for professionals in case management field. A student after completing the degree in case management can work as case manager in home-care and out-patient care settings. Various specialized fields where opportunities as case managers exist include nursing, physical therapy, health care insurance, occupational therapy, etc.
