Breyer State University - Online Doctor of Nursing Science D.N.S. program gives students an opportunity to study a comprehensive curriculum in nursing field and develop skills to succeed in the field. The program is meant for the registered nurses with a masters degree in nursing.
This program consists of 90 semester hours. The courses include Theories of Nursing Practice (6 hrs), Advanced Assessment (6 hrs), Health Care Law (6 hrs), Health Care Ethics (6 hrs), Natural Health Care (6 hrs), Research Methods (10 hrs), Nursing Clinical Specialty Symposium I (10 hrs), Nursing Clinical Specialty Symposium II (10 hrs), Nursing Clinical Specialty Symposium III (10 hrs) and Doctoral Project (20 hrs).
A student has to choose any one of the following Clinical Specialty Tracks to complete his/ her doctorate degree: Case Management, Holistic Nursing, Nursing Education, Hospice Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Gerontology, Thanatology, Oncology/Hematology, Home Health Care, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Medical/Surgical Practice.
A student gets 10 weeks’ time to complete an online course. If a student wants the time limit to be extended, permission of the instructor is required. The program allows students to transfer college credits/ courses earned previously during their college programs to this program.
A student should have a masters degree in nursing, community health, public health, or related field to get admission in this program. He/ she should also hold a current registered nurse license.
This program does not fulfill specific requirements for licensing for any state or country.

A student after completing the doctorate program in nursing science can work in field of advanced clinical practice, nurse consultant, or nursing administration. Other options include working in clinical nursing research field or as a nurse educator.
