Bachelor of Pastoral Thanatology
Thanatology is the subject that deals with the social, psychological and other aspects of death. Usually pastors of different faiths find difficulty facing questions concerning the passing of a parishioner. As a result, many churches are appointing educated people to assist in pastoral care and spiritual support programs. There is growing demand for specialists in pastoral care and thanatology to provide care for the dying and their family. These specialists have knowledge of different issues on death and dying, needs of the dying, spiritual issues, etc. A number of universities now offer degree programs in pastoral thanatology. During these programs, students are given extensive knowledge about death, mourning and sociology of dying. They are also taught about various issues associated with end of life, spiritualism, culture, ethics, etc.
