Criminal justice system is very important for any society as it helps in maintaining social control by punishing people who violate laws. To implement the criminal justice system in any state or country, professionals with knowledge of criminal justice system are required. These professionals have detailed knowledge of criminal laws and procedures, courtroom processes, probation, etc. A number of universities offer Bachelor of Science degree programs in Criminal Justice. Breyer State University - Online Bachelor of Science - Criminal Justice program consists of 108 Semester hours. The eight core courses include Introduction to Criminal Justice (6 hrs), Law Enforcement in Criminal Justice (6 hrs), The American Court Systems (6 hrs), Corrections Theory & Systems (6 hrs), Criminal Behavior (6 hrs), Criminal Justice Information Systems (6 hrs), Juvenile Justice Systems (6 hrs), and Liability & Career Issues in Criminal Justice (6 hrs).

After completion of the core courses, five specialty tracks are offered to the students from which a student has to select one tract.

The courses in Policing/Enforcement Track include Modern Policing (10 hrs), Criminal Investigation (10 hrs), Proactive Police Management (10 hrs), Methods of Crime Control (10 hrs), and Policing/Enforcement Symposium (20 hrs).

The courses in Law/Court System Track include Laws of Evidence (10 hrs), Court Procedures & Constitutional Issues (10 hrs), Fundamentals of Criminal Law (10 hrs), Judicial Administration (10 hrs), and Law/ Court System Symposium (20 hrs).

The courses in Corrections Track include Correctional Strategies (10 hrs), Parole, Probation & Release Programs (10 hrs), Correctional Officers in America (10 hrs), Leadership Roles in Corrections (10 hrs), and Corrections Symposium (20 hrs).

The courses in Crime Scene Investigation Track include Introduction to Crime Scene Investigation (10 hrs), Evidence Analysis (10 hrs), Crime Scene Analysis (10 hrs), Situational Crime Scene Investigations (10 hrs), and Special Project/ Symposium (20 hrs).

The courses in Public and Privatized Security Administration Track include Issues in Public and Private Security (10 hrs), Terrorism Prevention Strategies (10 hrs), Security Survey Analysis (10 hrs), Management in the Security Industry (10 hrs), and Special Project/ Symposium (20 hrs).

Career Options Available For a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice
Criminal Justice field offers a number of career paths for the students. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree program, a student can work as police officer, correctional officer, parole officer, security manager, and in courtroom positions such as bailiff, reporter, clerk, etc. He/ she can also make a career as juvenile justice center officials, crime lab scientists, etc., with state or federal agencies or in private sector.
